Thanks Andrew! Really appreciate the compliments.

Having a relationship with my therapist (for nearly a had been incredibly helpful for me - it's unfortunate that going to therapy is a sign of weakness, especially for men. Knowing when (and who) to ask for help is something I don't our culture recognizes as valuable, and hopefully conversations like this help change that.

My inbox is open if you (or anyone else reading this!) want to chat more - and I'll take you up on meeting at your next race, no matter what place we're respectively in.

I'll be at Augusta 70.3 in September. I'm trying to get Ashley to go too. Reach out if you are racing it.

Great episode guys. Miles @MLDB, you are a great storyteller. I really appreciated the part of the conversation where you mentioned talking to your therapist and it was just a passing comment. I don't think that it is appreciated or accepted enough in our society, and especially among men. It's nice to her it mentioned and accepted so fluently. No one would think twice about hearing that you have a triathlon coach, but sometimes when we hear about a therapist, there still exists a stigma.

Thank you for all of the stories and inspiration. Keep going, and maybe I'll see you at a race sometime (probably from behind).

Were these moments of weakness truly failures or moments needing reframed as learning experiences?

As a long distance runner, I have never looked at missing splits as failure. In those moments, where expectations aren’t met, my body is sending me messages on what needs to improve. Last year was epic with 4 PRs (plus one massive disappointment) in 9 races but those PRs came with 3 gravity checks (1 occurring in the middle of a main road in front of approximately 200 people at 0.01 miles of a 20 mile run), sores, infections, and muscle failure at the conclusion of a race. Failures? Naw: building blocks to reach the next level.

Hey Beth, thanks for chiming in! Awesome to hear that you are a long distance runner and PRs this last year - you've got some great reframes that you use in your training. I think that's a good question. I'll be curious to know what @MLDB thinks.
